2016 - Naina Grewal
In 2016, ASC awarded the Robert E. Oliver Scholarship to Naina Grewal, a third year student
at Simon Fraser University. Naina has excelled academically while pursuing a joint Business
and Communications major, with a concentration in marketing. Outside of the classroom,
Naina volunteers as host of the "Sade Bache Sada Virsa" radio show on RED 93.1 FM in
Vancouver, where she covers topics such as academic success, volunteerism and multiculturalism.
She has also volunteered with Darpan Magazine, Tourism Vancouver, Media Democracy Days,
and the Surrey Leadership Action Conference.
2015 - Caroline Leblanc
In 2015, ASC awarded the Robert E. Oliver Scholarship to Caroline Leblanc. A passionate
aspiring marketer, Caroline intends to pursue her MSc in Marketing Management upon
completion of her undergraduate program. Caroline was selected on the basis of her exemplary
academic standing and her volunteer record with organizations such as Accueil Bonneau, a
welcoming centre for those who are homeless or at risk, and with JePassePartout, a community
organization designed to prevent students from dropping out of school.
2014 - Amelia Layne
In 2014, ASC awarded the Robert E. Oliver Scholarship to Amelia Layne, a fourth year Bachelor
of Commerce student at Dalhousie University in Halifax, majoring in Marketing Management. In
addition to excelling academically in a rigorous marketing program, Amelia has been an active
volunteer with numerous organizations and programs, including Habitat for Humanity and the
International Student Support Program at Dalhousie.
2013 - Shane Gunter
In 2013, ASC awarded the Robert E. Oliver Scholarship to Shane Gunter, a third-year undergraduate student enrolled in the Bachelor of Business
Administration program at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. In addition to his excellent academic record, Shane is an outstanding
contributor to his community and has volunteered his time to a range of charitable organizations.
2012 - Jackie McKinley
In 2012, ASC awarded the Robert E. Oliver Scholarship to Jackie McKinley, a third-year undergraduate
student in Marketing at the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business. In addition to her academic
excellence, Jackie is actively involved in giving back to her community. As Director of Community Development
for Haskayne’s Commerce Undergraduate Society she has helped organize various charitable and fundraising events.
2011 - Michelle Bergsma
In 2011, ASC awarded the Robert E. Oliver Scholarship to Michelle Bergsma, from Whitehorse, Yukon.
Michelle was a third-year undergraduate student enrolled in the University of Guelph's Marketing Management
Co-op Program and had been on the Dean's Honours List for four consecutive semesters. In addition to her
academic excellence, Michelle was deeply involved in her community as a volunteer.
2010 - Marie-Anne Lalonde
In 2010, ASC awarded the Robert E. Oliver Scholarship to Marie-Anne Lalonde who was in her third year
of a Bachelor in Communications Marketing at the Université du Québec à Montréal. In addition to her
outstanding academic results and her involvement in the student community, Marie-Anne is determined to
make a difference by putting her skills in marketing to the service of organizations such as the Association
of People with Visual Disabilities of Saguenay Lac-St-jean and Operation Red Nose.
2009 - Alexandra Warner
In 2009, ASC awarded the scholarship to Alexandra Warner, who was in her fourth year of a Bachelor of Business
Administration program at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John. In addition to her outstanding academic
achievement, she also volunteered with several organizations, including Stand Up Against Poverty and World University
Service of Canada.
2008 - Ivy So
In 2008, ASC awarded the scholarship to Ivy So, a Business Administration and Communications major at Simon Fraser
University in Vancouver. In addition to her outstanding academic achievement, she was also a volunteer with the Business
Administration Student Society at SFU and served on the Board of Directors for Agents of Change, a non-profit agency
dedicated to alleviating global poverty through sustainable solutions.
2007 - Shira Feuer
Shira Feuer, from Winnipeg, was a fourth-year marketing major at McGill University in Montreal. In addition to
excelling academically in a rigorous marketing program, she was also a volunteer with both an international student
leadership program and the Winnipeg Fringe Festival.
2007 - Lacey Cartier
From Edmonton, Lacey Cartier was a second-year business and marketing major at Northern Alberta Institute of
Technology. In addition to her outstanding academic achievement, she had been a long-time volunteer in her community,
helping kids and parents in need.
2006 - Dan Kenaani
The 2006 Robert E. Oliver Scholarship recipient was Dan Kenaani, then second-year advertising major at Sheridan
College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning in Oakville, Ontario. In addition to his exceptional academic
record, Dan acted as Director of Communications of the Sheridan Student Union, coordinated its alcohol abuse awareness
week, and organized Sheridan’s Shinerama 2005 fundraising campaign to help fight cystic fibrosis.
2005 - Julie Massicotte
The 2005 Robert E. Oliver Scholarship recipient was Julie Massicotte, a student at the Media Art and Technology
Course, Advertising Option, at Cégep de Jonquière, Quebec.
2005 - Tricia Hayden
The 2005 Robert E. Oliver Scholarship was also awarded to Tricia Hayden, a student in the Advertising Program at
Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario.
