Oliver Scholarship. In keeping with its commitment to promote the professional practice of advertising, each year ASC presents a cash award scholarship, which commemorates Robert E. Oliver, one of the pioneers in Canadian advertising self-regulation, and the first president of the Canadian Advertising Advisory Board, ASC’s predecessor organization. The scholarship is awarded to individuals with outstanding academic achievements, who have an exemplary record of service to the community and who plan on pursuing a career in advertising or marketing. For more information, visit www.adstandards.com in early September, or contact (416) 961-6311 ext. 249. Children’s Clearance Committee – expedited service for holiday season To accommodate your children’s advertising clearance needs during the busy months ahead, ASC’s Children’s Clearance Section will be adding extra Children’s Clearance Committee meetings from September through November. This expedited service—scheduled during the “off weeks” between the regular Children’s Clearance Committee meetings held every second week—is a cost-efficient alternative to conditional clearance for children’s ads. Note that the off-week meetings will be held only as needed and the decision to hold meetings will be made by noon on the preceding Friday. To take advantage of this off-week service, please ensure that your submissions reach ASC before noon on the Friday before the specified committee meeting. Click for full rates and schedule info.
