April 29 Luncheon and Keynote Address On April 29, ASC hosted a luncheon event with Mike Longhurst, who presented the keynote address Can Advertising Save the World? Sustainability: The Challenge for Brands. A PowerPoint version of this address is available for ASC members. Contact melissa.campeau@adstandards.com for more information. About the speaker: Mike Longhurst is a Senior Vice President at McCann Erickson EMEA, and has spoken widely on the issue of sustainability for brands, including at Green Week in Brussels, World's Fair in Aichi, a UN Ministerial conference in Bali and at many industry events. About the keynote address: With a growing number of companies eager to tout their "sustainable" credentials to consumers, those companies engaging in "greenwash" marketing tactics are unquestionably putting a strain on consumer trust. But for those companies that incorporate sustainability into their actions and their corporate ethos, this can provide the opportunity to build and differentiate a brand, develop leadership in a sector, and to shape a business for future success.
