"I am honoured to have the opportunity to contribute to this important mandate." Dawkins first joined ASC’s Board of Directors in 2004 and most recently held the position of Vice-Chair. During her 29-year career with General Motors of Canada, Dawkins has held numerous positions in the company’s sales and marketing areas. In her current position she is responsible for corporate, divisional, vehicle brand and retail advertising across Canada as well as the development and implementation of sponsorships, promotions, shows and events. ASC increases the Robert E. Oliver scholarship for 50th anniversary ASC will celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2007. In keeping with our mandate to support future industry leaders and professionals, ASC will confer up to five Robert E. Oliver scholarship, named for ASC’s first president, is available to undergraduate students enrolled in advertising or marketing courses at a university or community college in Canada. The award recipients must be committed to pursuing a career in marketing or advertising, demonstrate academic excellence and show a dedication to community or volunteer work. Applicants are asked to submit a short essay explaining why he or she deserves the award, a recommendation from a faculty member, and for 2007, applicants will also be asked to submit a 500-word essay on the importance of self-regulation in advertising. ASC will distribute full 2007 scholarship application information to approximately 50 academic institutions across Canada in late August of 2006. Online video submissions for Children’s Clearance Effective immediately, ASC Children’s Clearance Section offers online submissions in digital format for children’s commercials. To take advantage of this convenient, time-saving service, digital files should be of a high enough resolution to allow full-screen viewing, with all activity and supers clearly visible. ASC recommends .mpeg or .mov video formats of approximately 2 Mb to 5 Mb per 30 second spot. Files of more than 6 Mb may cause delays in transfer. To submit digital files to ASC, you’ll need to set up an account the first time you log on. From there, you are immediately set to submit your digital files online to our clearance team. If you have any further questions please call Rhoda or Daydria at (416) 961-6311 option 1. Children’s Clearance Section, ASC Clearance Services increases meeting frequency for holiday season In advertising terms, the holiday season is nearly here. To accommodate your children’s advertising clearance needs during the busy months ahead, ASC’s Children’s Clearance Section will be adding extra Children’s Clearance Committee meetings from September through December. This expedited service—scheduled during the “off weeks” between the regular Children’s Clearance Committee meetings held every second week—is a cost-efficient alternative to conditional clearance for children’s ads. Note that the off-week meetings will be held only as needed and the decision to hold meetings will be made by noon on the preceding Friday. To take advantage of this off-week service, ASC requires your submissions before noon on the Friday before the specified committee meeting. Visit our site for full rates and schedule info. |
