ASC Clearance Services Children’s Section*
1. Committee Clearance
- The Committee meets every other week to review finished commercials.
- A meeting schedule is published annually by ASC.
- Turnaround time: Submit by Friday noon preceding each scheduled meeting. Clearance numbers are issued by close of business on the meeting day.
2. Conditional Clearance
- A temporary or conditional approval mechanism is available to advertisers who require expedited clearance in between regularly scheduled meetings.
- Final review and approval is conducted by the full Committee at the next regularly scheduled meeting.
- Turnaround time: Two business days.
Advertisers are encouraged to submit their commercials for Committee Clearance review, which offers significant savings compared to Conditional Clearance.

Special Holiday Meetings
- In between regular Monday Committee Clearance meetings during the peak pre-holiday season (September to December).
- Submit by Friday noon preceding the “off-week” meeting. Clearance numbers are issued by close of business on the following day.

Other Services*
1. Script/Tape Evaluation
- Prior to final commercial production and submission for Committee Clearance, scripts and story boards, or scripts and rough cut dubs, may be submitted for evaluation. Children’s Section staff will advise (in writing) whether or not the submission complies with the Children’s Code. Although this preliminary evaluation does not guarantee final Committee Clearance, it can help avoid changes to finished commercials.
2. Telecaster/Preliminary CBC Clearance
- At your request, ASC Clearance Services can forward your commercial to Telecaster and/or CBC on your behalf.
Submission Procedures
- Step I Obtain a Clearance Submission Form from ASC or from our website – www.adstandards.com/clearance.
- Step II Complete the Clearance Submission Form indicating desired service, e.g. Committee Clearance, Conditional Clearance or Script/Tape Evaluation
- Step III Submit the completed form and a copy of the script, and for Committee or Conditional clearance please also submit a copy of the finished commercial.
*Fee Schedule available on our website.
