Advertising regulatory and self-regulatory issues are rarely confined to one jurisdiction. Challenges are increasingly global in nature and learnings from the US and abroad can be particularly instructive.

ASC has enjoyed and valued a long and productive partnership with our US counterpart organization, the Advertising Self-Regulatory Council, which is administered by the US Council of Better Business Bureaus. Join us as our distinguished guest, C. Lee Peeler, ASRCís President and CEO, shares his insights and highlights current hot button issues affecting the US advertising and media landscape.

Topics to include:

  • Interest Based Advertising Ė US Compliance Issues
  • Recent cases from ASRCís National Advertising Division and Electronic Retailing Self-Regulation Program, e.g. trends in comparative advertising; "native" advertising; cosmetics advertising including photo-shopping and other enhancements; green marketing claims
  • Recent Federal Trade Commission Enforcement Actions, e.g. claims substantiation; remedies, disclosures, advertising agency liability; privacy enforcement; workshop on native advertising
