Ad Complaints Reporting
Ad complaints reporting is an important part of the advertising industry’s consumer response mechanism and commitment to an objective and transparent consumer complaints process.
Ad Complaint Reports are published quarterly and annually by ASC. In addition, ASC publishes current ad complaints summaries about Consumer Response Council decisions made in the time between the quarterly reports.
Both the quarterly and current ad complaints reports contain case summaries of consumer complaints about ads that the independent Consumer Response Councils have determined contravene the Canadian Code of Advertising Standards. Reporting provides valuable insight into consumers’ concerns about issues relating to advertising and how Councils interpret and apply the Code’s clauses.
The Annual Ad Complaints Report informs both industry and public about hot-button consumer issues. The report also provides statistics about the consumer complaints received by ASC and adjudicated by the Councils during the reporting year.
