Ad Complaints Reporting
Ad complaints reporting is an important part of the advertising industry’s consumer response mechanism and commitment to an
objective and transparent consumer complaint process.
Ad Complaints Reports are published quarterly and annually by ASC. In addition, ASC publishes current ad complaints
summaries about Council decisions made in the time between the quarterly reports.
Both the quarterly and current ad complaints reports contain case summaries of consumer complaints about ads that the
independent Standards Councils have determined contravene
the Canadian Code of Advertising Standards (Code). Reporting provides valuable insight
into consumer concerns about issues relating to advertising and how Council interprets and applies the Code’s clauses.
The Annual Ad Complaints Report informs both industry and public about hot-button
consumer issues. The report also provides statistics about the consumer complaints received by ASC and adjudicated by Council
during the reporting year.
