ASC’s Alcoholic Beverage Clearance staff can help you maintain the integrity of your advertising copy while ensuring it meets regulatory requirements. Our professional, bilingual Clearance Analysts review alcohol broadcast advertising copy to ensure compliance with the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) Code for Broadcast Advertising of Alcoholic Beverages.
ASC began reviewing alcoholic beverage advertising copy at the request of broadcasters and alcoholic beverage manufacturers in 1997, when the CRTC disbanded its clearance unit. In late 1999, following regulatory changes in British Columbia, ASC was requested by BC advertisers to expand its alcoholic beverage advertising copy clearance services to include print and out-of-home advertisements. At the request of the Alcoholic Beverage Manufacturers, when the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) abolished its advertising pre-approval services in August of 2002, ASC began reviewing alcohol broadcast, print and out-of-home advertising to ensure compliance with the AGCO Liquor Advertising Guidelines.
