Bilingual Advertising Copy Reviewer

Ad Standards Clearance Services

Ad Standards, the national not-for-profit advertising self-regulatory body, seeks a fully bilingual Copy Reviewer as an Advertising Clearance Analyst. The analyst will evaluate French and English food, drug and cosmetic advertising copy for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review advertising copy in all media for food, cosmetics, nonprescription drugs, medical devices and natural health products to determine compliance with the applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and policies, including the Food Labelling for Industry, the Food and Drugs Act and Regulations as well as Authorized Product Information, e.g. Product Monograph, approved labeling, Category IV Monographs, Labelling Standards, Guidelines for Consumer Advertising of Marketed Health Products.
  • Develop written responses to clients, identifying areas of concern and potential solutions regarding specific advertising submissions
  • Explain applicable regulations and discuss potential solutions with submitters
  • Understand and consistently apply the various laws, regulations, guidelines and policies concerning drug advertising
  • Build and maintain client relationships
  • Develop and deliver presentations to agencies and advertisers regarding copy clearance in English and French
  • Handle advertising complaints in accordance with Health Canada policy

Required Qualifications:

  • BSc. Pharm or BSc. in Pharmacology or Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biology, or equivalent, plus education or experience in drug regulatory affairs
  • Fluently bilingual in written and spoken English and French
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient computer skills including all MS Office applications
  • Excellent organization skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines
  • Superior analytical and decision-making skill
  • Well-honed negotiating and listening skills
  • Interest in advertising and popular culture
