Linda J. Nagel
President and CEO
Linda joined Advertising Standards Canada (ASC) in 1994, as President and Chief Executive Officer.
Immediately prior to joining ASC, she was president of a food trade association during which time
she was appointed by the Minister of International Trade to the Sectoral Advisory Group on International
Trade for two successive terms (1988-1994). Prior to that, she spent ten years in senior roles in US
national voluntary medical and health organizations. Linda has extensive organization management,
government relations, marketing, and public and regulatory affairs experience in both the United
States and Canada. Currently, Linda is Chair of the International Council of the European Advertising
Standards Alliance.
Peter White
Senior Vice President, Operations
As Senior Vice President, Operations, Peter is responsible for all aspects of ASC’s operations, in
addition to the communications portfolio. With expertise in systems development and information
management, Peter designed and developed ASC’s management systems for both advertising clearance
and consumer complaints. Peter holds degrees in Science and Education as well as a number of technical
certifications and designations. He joined ASC in 1996 as Director of Information Systems,
following 10 years of progressive responsibility advising both private and not-for-profit clients,
in Canada and the United States, on the use of technology to advance their business.
Nicole Bellam
Vice President, ASC Clearance Services
As Vice President for ASC Clearance Services, Nicole leads ASC’s preclearance team, ensuring superior
quality, integrity and service for ASC customers. A member of the executive team, Nicole is also the
Chair of the Children’s Clearance Committee and an active participant on the Consumer Health Product
Advertising Advisory Council (CHPAAC), the Cosmetic Advertising Advisory Group (CAAG) and the Food
Advisory Council (FAC). Nicole joined ASC in 2002, bringing over 20 years of experience in advertising,
working with a wide range of major national and international clients in agencies in Montreal and Toronto.
She has expertise in a number of relevant business sectors, including packaged goods, restaurants
and cosmetics, is fluently bilingual, and has an excellent knowledge of communications in English and
French markets.
Janet Feasby
Vice President, Standards
As Vice President, Standards with ASC, Janet is responsible for the administration of the Canadian Code
of Advertising Standards and the complaint procedures under the Code, and is a member of ASC’s Executive
Team. She is also the administrator of the Canadian Children’s Food & Beverage Advertising Initiative (CAI) – a voluntary
initiative of 19 of Canada’s leading food and beverage companies that are committed to promoting and supporting healthy
dietary choices and healthy lifestyles to children under 12 years of age. Janet has an extensive background in
regulatory affairs, policy development, and government relations. Prior to joining ASC in 1999, Janet spent ten
years in the Ontario government as Manager, Gaming Policy with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, and as Senior Policy Analyst with the
Ontario Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations. Janet holds an LL.B. from Queen’s University and
is a member of the Canadian Bar Association.
Danielle Lefrançois
Communications Manager (Quebec)
Danielle is ASC’s Communications Manager in Montreal. She has studied communications and advertising
and is responsible for consumers’ complaints, public and media relations as well as industry relations
in French Canada. Danielle previously worked with ASC as an analyst from 1995-1998. Since then, she
has worked for Radio-Canada and its all-news channel (RDI) in media relations, communications and
program promotion.
