ASC Launches Online 2013-2014 Review

2013 annual report

Check out our new online ASC in 2013-2014 Review website. Released on May 6, this mobile-ready site provides insight into our activities and initiatives over the past twelve months. The online review, together with our new print brochure, replaces our print Annual Reports and allows for new features such as our interactive map showing the Global Network of Advertising SROs. ASC’s Annual Meeting and Breakfast Program held on May 6, 2014

ASC’s Annual General Meeting and Breakfast Program took place on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Hilton Toronto. Following the AGM, Andrew Winston, best-selling author, delivered the keynote address entitled "The Big Pivot: Doing Business in a Hotter, Scarcer, More Open World". Drawing from the examples of leading global companies, Winston demonstrated that for those businesses that can make the "big pivot" and embrace new ways of operating sustainably, opportunities abound and success can follow. Introducing 2014/2015 ASC Executive Committee and Board of Directors

Advertising Standards Canada is pleased to announce its 2014/2015 Board of Directors. Patrick Dickinson, Hudson’s Bay Company, will continue in the office of Chair of the Board for the second year of his two-year term. (more)

Celebrating 20 Years at ASC

At the AGM, ASC’s President and CEO reflected on the success and evolution of Canadian advertising self-regulation, and the work of ASC over the past twenty years. "Self-regulation only works with stakeholder buy-in and commitment," said Linda Nagel. "When I joined ASC in 1994, there were strong fundamentals – the Canadian Code of Advertising Standards, our consumer and trade complaint mechanisms, Children’s broadcast clearance and we had recently taken on the responsibility for two additional broadcast clearance functions from the federal government – food & non-alcoholic beverage and cosmetic advertising clearance." ASC Releases 2013 Ad Complaints Report

ASC recently released its Ad Complaints Report – 2013 in Review. The Report provides insight into consumers’ complaints submitted to ASC during 2013 for review under the Canadian Code of Advertising Standards. (more)

PSA Creative Contest Winners Announced

Congratulations to the five winning teams of our PSA Creative Competition. We received over 40 top-quality submissions from post-secondary students from across Canada, who took on the challenge to communicate that "Truth in Advertising Matters." (more)

ASC Awards the 2013 Robert E. Oliver Scholarship to Dalhousie Student

ASC has awarded its annual Robert E. Oliver Scholarship to Amelia Layne a fourth year Bachelor of Commerce student at Dalhousie University, Halifax. Read more.

ASC Clearance Launches Express Service

Beginning on April 1, 2014, ASC Clearance Services launched a new Express service to provide faster turnaround for advertising submission in most categories. (more)
